Somatic Therapy for Anxiety Melbourne | Holistic Anxiety Treatment & Counselling
Anxiety can feel like you are constantly on edge, unable to relax or feel safe in your own body. It may show up as racing thoughts, tightness in the chest, digestive discomfort, difficulty sleeping, restlessness or the constant sense that something is wrong even when you cannot explain why. While often treated as a mental health issue, anxiety is deeply connected to your physical body including your nervous system, hormones, digestion and energy reserves. Ongoing stress, emotional overload and unresolved experiences can shift the way your system responds, keeping you stuck in patterns of fear, urgency or overwhelm.
At B.Me Lifestyle, I support the whole of you including body, mind, emotions and energy to uncover what is really driving your anxiety. Through a personalised combination of somatic and talk therapy, nervous system regulation, gut, nutrition and lifestyle support, we create a sense of inner safety and calm from within. Together, we rebuild your ability to feel grounded, clear and confident so you can step out of survival and into a life that feels enjoyable, balanced and connected.

A HOLISTIC Approach to treating Anxiety
Anxiety is not just in your head but it’s a full-body experience that affects your nervous system, hormones, digestion, energy, and your ability to feel safe, calm and connected. That’s why my approach works with the whole of you: body, mind, emotions, energy and environment.
We begin with a comprehensive assessment to explore your physical and emotional baseline. This helps identify underlying patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, including your health history, sleep, nutrition, hormonal balance, past trauma and current stress load. It also helps us determine your nervous system’s current capacity and how much change you can comfortably integrate.
Anxiety often has deeper roots in inflammation, nutritional deficiencies, hormone dysregulation and chronic nervous system activation. Your gut, brain and body are constantly in communication, and if your body is toxic and your biochemistry is imbalanced or depleted, it becomes very difficult to regulate thoughts, emotions or sensations.
That’s why we start by creating a stable foundation. This may include:
- Nutrition and gut support to restore essential nutrients and balance the gut-brain axis
- Lifestyle shifts to improve sleep, calm your system and reduce overstimulation
- Somatic practices to regulate your nervous system and strengthen body awareness
- Breathwork, movement and grounding to bring you back into the present moment
Once your system begins to settle, we work can then start addressing some of deep rooter issues that accompany anxiety like trauma. To help reconnect and empower you helping heal your anxiety I use an integrative blend of Brainspotting, Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Therapy, ACT, CBT, Compassionate Inquiry and Sound Therapy, all woven together through my unique B.ME® Lifestyle approach. This model honours your biology, psychology and energetic nature while supporting lasting transformation from the inside out.
This work is not about managing symptoms but about healing the root causes of anxiety by reconnecting you to your body and teaching you how to self-care and respond to its needs. Through this reconnection, you restore regulation and feel confident in your ability to meet life with ease while maintaining your joy, health and wellbeing.
what my anxiety clients feel
Thank you Anca! I started seeing Anca at a very difficult time and found her support and encouragement truly helpful! Nothing is more important than your health, mental and physical. I have learnt so much about the foods I am eating, how they affect my moods and how I can take better care of the choices I make, not only for me but for my family.
Amanda
I have been introduced to Anca a few months ago when I was struggling with my gut problem. Even tho there is a huge distance between us (me in Europe, and she in Australia), we make it possible via Zoom. She is the most amazing, genuine, kind, and knowledgeable nutritionist. She has provided me with education, counselling, she provided great guidance when I was struggling with anxiety and stress, and we work together on my diet plan. Because of her, I didn’t improve just my gut problem, but even my mental state of mind.
I highly recommend her and I’m very grateful for meeting her.
Vlad
Fabulous service - thorough from start to finish with great interpersonal skills. Anca has helped me and my kids back to good health through diet, supplements and general lifestyle adaptation. She made it easy.

anxiety causes
Anxiety is a multifaceted experience that often arises from a combination of physical, emotional, environmental and psychological stressors. On a biochemical level, nutrient deficiencies such as low magnesium, B vitamins, iron, zinc, vitamin D and omega 3s can impact neurotransmitter production and brain function, leading to increased tension, low mood and restlessness. Hormonal imbalances involving the thyroid, adrenals or reproductive system, along with poor gut health, blood sugar dysregulation and chronic inflammation, can further destabilise mood and energy. The nervous system plays a central role, and when it becomes dysregulated due to chronic stress, trauma or early attachment disruptions, it can get stuck in a state of high alert where calm no longer feels accessible. Anxiety can also be shaped by unresolved emotional pain, suppressed feelings, perfectionism, people pleasing, low self-worth and past experiences that have taught the body it is not safe to relax. Lifestyle patterns such as poor sleep, overuse of stimulants, excessive screen time, lack of movement or emotional disconnection may reinforce the cycle. Environmental factors like exposure to mould, toxins, noise or relational conflict can silently contribute, while developmental and genetic influences set the stage for how sensitive your system may be. Because anxiety shows up in many ways and often has more than one cause, a whole-person approach is needed — one that supports the body, mind, emotions and energy system to create lasting regulation and relief.
Regulate Your Nervous System and Reconnect with Yourself
Your nervous system is the control centre for how you feel, think and respond to life, but it’s also in charge of how your body functions. From digestion, heart rate and breathing, to hormone production, immunity and sleep, the state of your nervous system directly influences your physical health. When it’s stuck in a constant state of stress or shutdown, it becomes difficult to focus, sleep, digest, or feel safe in your body. Over time, this dysregulation can lead to anxiety, overwhelm, chronic tension, and disconnection from yourself.
Regulation isn’t just about calming down, it’s about restoring rhythm to your daily life and supporting the biochemistry that helps you feel grounded and well. Your brain and body chemistry are directly influenced by how you eat, sleep, move, breathe and interact with your environment. Through food, rest, breath and supportive lifestyle choices, you begin to nourish your system in a way that helps it feel safe and energised.
Somatic therapy, combined with these foundations, helps you tune into your body’s signals, create internal safety and bring yourself back into alignment. As your system finds its natural rhythm and flow, your energy returns, your clarity deepens, and you begin to reconnect with the real you, balanced, empowered and fully alive

FAQ- Anxiety treatment
What makes your approach to anxiety different from traditional therapy?
At BME Lifestyle, I treat anxiety by working with the body and nervous system, not just the mind. My approach combines somatic therapy, nutritional support, lifestyle changes and emotional processing to address the root causes of anxiety. This allows for deeper and more lasting relief, rather than just learning to cope with symptoms.
How does somatic therapy help with anxiety?
Somatic therapy helps regulate the nervous system by releasing stored tension and calming the body's stress response. Many people with anxiety feel stuck in survival mode. By helping your body feel safe again, somatic therapy supports a more grounded and balanced emotional state.
What role does nutrition play in anxiety recovery?
Nutritional imbalances can directly affect mood, energy and brain chemistry. Deficiencies in nutrients like magnesium, B vitamins, iron and omega 3s are common in those experiencing anxiety. I help you restore balance through personalised nutrition and support gut health, blood sugar stability and energy regulation.
Who can benefit from your anxiety consultations in Melbourne?
I support adults who experience chronic worry, panic, overwhelm, restlessness or emotional disconnection. Whether you are managing generalised anxiety, health anxiety, social anxiety or just feel stuck in your own mind and body, this approach can help you feel more grounded and in control.
What happens in a typical anxiety session at BME Lifestyle?
We begin with a full assessment of your physical, emotional and lifestyle patterns. From there, I create a personalised plan that may include somatic therapy, nervous system regulation, nutritional guidance and self-care strategies. Each session is adapted to support where you are at that day.
Do you offer online anxiety consultations or just in Melbourne?
I offer both in-person sessions in Melbourne and online consultations across Australia. This gives you flexibility and consistent support no matter where you are located.
Ready to Feel More Calm, Clear and Connected?
If anxiety is affecting your energy, clarity or confidence, I am here to help you reconnect to your body and restore balance. This is not about managing symptoms, it is about transforming your relationship with yourself.
